Healthy Eating and Food Safety in Schools
There is no doubt that 'what we eat' has assumed an increased importance in schools in recent years. As a result more and more staff are actively involved in food handling and preparation with young people in our schools and to ensure the highest standards staff need advice and training.
Everyone who is involved should receive basic training, usually most efficiently and cost effectively done 'in-house'. This includes teachers, teaching assistants, care workers and volunteer helpers. Done this way everyone receives the same messages and no-one misses out. It should include anyone who needs to know the basic principles of healthy eating and food safety.
The following training course has proved to be very successful and beneficial for a wide range of schools, whether handling food at breakfast and after school clubs or with groups of children during the school day.
Healthy Eating and Food Safety in Schools
Content: A three hour training session covering the most up-to-date
and important messages of each topic
Location: At your school, in your staff room or classroom
When: To suit you, either on an inset day or a twilight session
Staff: Any number of staff or combination from neighbouring schools

Why wait for a course for one or two staff to go on and then fight to find the time for them to try to pass on the messages to everyone else?
