Two courses are available

Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering

This course replaced the Foundation Course in Food Hygiene in 2006 and is the basic requirement for all who prepare, cook or serve food as part of their duties. 

  • It is typically aimed at those working in residential homes, day centres, children's nurseries, cafes, restaurants...any establishment where staff are involved in handling food on a regular basis.
  • It is increasingly being requested by schools who require this training for all their  teachers, teaching assistants and volunteer parents who are involved in food preparation with the children.
  • This one day course is delivered in-house, usually running from 0930 to 1630 with breaks.  At the end of the day candidates take a short multiple-choice exam.  Successful candidates are awarded a certificate from The Royal Society for Public Health.

Total Cost: A group of up to twenty people is £275.  In addition there is a fee of £12 per person to cover the exam marking and cost of the certificate.  Individuals and smaller numbers can be accommodated by agreement.

Food Hygiene Awareness

This course is designed for those who may be in need of some basic rules of good food hygiene but do not require the full certificated course.  It can be made as detailed or as short as required.

  • It is aimed at staff or volunteers who may handle low risk food or serve food on an occasional basis.  This may apply to some childminders or those who prepare and serve tea to church groups in a voluntary capacity.
  • It can be run in-house to groups of any size and need only take  between 2 to 4 hours.  There is no exam but a certificate of attendance can be provided.

Total Cost: For a group of up to twenty a charge of between £100 and £150 is likely depending upon the desired duration.

Both courses will be 'tailor made' with the background of the client group in mind, ensuring that the day is relevant and motivating for those involved.  The content is delivered using a professional PowerPoint presentation, which is backed up by the very latest DVDs on the subject.
